About the greenback cutthroat trout:

• Colorado's official State Fish
• Once thought extinct, one remnant population was found near Colorado Springs and recovery efforts have built from there.
• The only native trout to the South Platte watershed in Colorado.
• A protected species – where fishing is allowed it is catch and release only – do your part and safely return all greenbacks unharmed to the water!

ABOUT THE COLORADO RIVER CUTTHROAT TROUT:

• The Colorado River cutthroat has been called one of the most spectacular of the cutthroat trout and one of the most beautiful fish in North America.
• They have a bright yellow-gold body with a brassy-green back and orange belly.
• Colorado River cutthroat trout are spring spawners, although low water temperatures at altitude can push spawning back as late as July.
• Restoration of CRCT habitat needs to address both habitat quality issues and issues of spatial limitation

About the Rio Grande cutthroat trout:

• New Mexico’s official State Fish and is also known as the New Mexico cutthroat trout
• The Rio Grande cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus virginalis virginalis) historically occupied various cool streams throughout the Rio Grande Watershed. Today, they currently live in only about 100 headwater streams in Colorado and New Mexico (10 percent of their former range).
• The yellow-green to gray-brown body is scattered with black spots, with a more heavily spotted tail section.
• The species has declined in recent years due to competition from introduced Rainbow and Brown trout and challenges from climate and land practices.

A novel, all-metal external clicker accentuates the back of the reel, complete with a machined silhouette of our local San Juan Mountains and a classic click-pawl sound. The spool is even more open than its predecessor, making the face of the reel appear spacious and clean, with the beveled large arbor showing off the backing and line just as well as it picks it up.

The semi-caged frame adds unmatched strength and rigidity, but with only a minimal weight gain - just enough to balance out a wider range of lightweight rods. The industry-first bushing is fully machined from Vesconite - a material specifically designed to be used in the toughest marine bearing applications, guaranteeing a lifetime of flawless operation.

Classic sound and feel meets modern strength and design to make the Colorado a functional piece of art - both on and off the water. With every angle and material carefully analyzed and considered, the new Colorado is designed to be fished from small streams to big rivers and everything in between.
